IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli ruled out of first ODI due to knee problem

Star India batter Virat Kohli was ruled out of the first One-Day International against England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Thursday.

India skipper Rohit Sharma revealed at the toss that Kohli was suffering from a knee problem. “This series presents us with a fresh opportunity to come out and play well. [Yashasvi] Jaiswal and [Harshit] Rana make their debut. Unfortunately, Kohli not playing, a right knee problem that happened last night,” Rohit said.

This is India’s last opportunity to fine-tune its team combination ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which begins later this month, making Kohli’s fitness a top priority for the team.
