Ajay Gnanamuthu Begins Work on Demonte Colony 3; Production Underway in Malta
Director Ajay Gnanamuthu has officially commenced work on Demonte Colony 3, the third chapter in the popular Tamil horror-thriller franchise. He shared the announcement on April 2, 2025, posting a team photo from Sliema, Malta, on social media. The film will see the return of cast members Arulnithi, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Meenakshi Govindharajan, and Muthukumar, with music composed by Sam CS.
The Demonte Colony franchise began in 2015 with the first film, which followed four friends who experience supernatural horrors after entering a cursed mansion. The 2024 sequel, Demonte Colony II: Vengeance of the Unholy, continued the narrative and became a box office success, running in theaters for 85 days.
Designed as a four-part saga with interconnected storylines and recurring characters—similar to the Harry Potter series rather than standalone horror films like The Conjuring—the franchise continues to expand its eerie universe.
While the release date for Demonte Colony 3 is yet to be announced, production is currently in full swing.
