March 14, 2025 not just marks the auspicious occassion of Holi festival in India, but also Tamil film director Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s birthday. Marking the same, Sun Pictures has released new stills from their upcoming movie Coolie which stars Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and has Aamir Khan appear in a cameo.
74 year old Rajinikanth, was born Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, and was given his stage name by late director K Balachander during the Holi festival of 1975. Since then the Tamil star actor has been sure to celebrate Holi as a mark of respect to his late mentor. Coolie is Rajinikanth’s 171st film in his long-standing 50 year career as a male lead.
The multi-starrer movie is touted to be an action thriller, and also stars Telugu star actor Nagarjuna, Kannada star actor Upendra, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, actress Shruthi Haasan, Sathyaraj, among others. Coolie has Anirudh Ravichander for music, who previously gave the blockbuster musical hit Jailer (2023) with Rajinikanth, and the Sun Pictures production house combo.
