Good Bad Ugly: Thuppakki Vijay reference in Ajith’s latest film

Actor Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly has released in theaters, and the movie as buzzed comes with references synonymous with actor Vijay. To the unversed actor Vijay refers to his fans as ‘Nanba’ (male friend) and ‘Nanbi’ (female friend), and the term is a significant part of Vijay’s fan culture, used in social media, fan events, and other forms of fan expression.

Another signature element associated with Vijay is the dialogue ‘I’m waiting’, which is a popular line from the actor’s blockbuster movie Thuppakki (2012), written and directed by AR Murugadoss. Good Bad Ugly, written and directed by Aashik Ravichandran, has Ajith referencing both of these trademark Vijay phrases.

Good Bad Ugly‘s interval block has Ajith delivering the line, “Enna Nanba, I’m waiting” as a hat-tip to Vijay who is soon entering politics in real life. Ajith referencing Vijay has come as a fan-service for both the star’s fan-bases who are usually found feuding over the Ajith-Vijay rivalry.

Ajith’s tribute to Vijay also follows Vijay’s tribute to Ajith in the climax of Vijay’s penultimate movie The Greatest of All Time (2024).
