IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli named in India playing XI for second ODI, replaces Jaiswal
Star India batter Virat Kohli was named in India’s playing XI for the second One-Day International against England at Barabati Stadium on Sunday.
Kohli had missed the series opener in Nagpur due to a knee problem, but India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak had confirmed on Saturday that the 36-year-old would be available for the second game.
“Kohli is fit. He is good to go. He is here and training with us,” he had said.
Kohli replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made his ODI debut in Nagpur, in the playing XI for the second ODI.
Along with bringing Kohli back into the fold, India also handed a maiden ODI cap to mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy.
With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 set to begin later this month, India will want Kohli, who has endured a rough patch of late, to be back among the runs.
