Coming closely ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, the tri-nation series, the first in Pakistan since 2004, will serve as the ideal dress rehearsal for the eight-team competition.
After the opener in Lahore on Saturday, South Africa and New Zealand will face off two days later. The last round robin match will be played in Karachi between Pakistan and the Proteas. The final is scheduled for February 14 in Karachi.
Pakistan heads to the series on the back of a 3-0 sweep against South Africa in South Africa. It had beaten Australia 2-1 Down Under before that. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s last ODI series was at home against Sri Lanka, which it won 2-1.
