England’s Ben Duckett smashed a century in his team’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign opener against Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday.
The left-handed opener reached his third ODI ton off 95 deliveries with two consecutive fours off Spencer Johnson’s bowling and finished his innings at 165 off 143 balls.
Duckett also set a new record for the highest individual score in ICC Champions Trophy history, surpassing Nathan Astle’s unbeaten 145 against USA in 2004.
Earlier, Duckett opened the innings with Phil Salt, who was dismissed in the second over of the match owing to a stunning catch by Alex Carey at mid-on.
He then stitched a 30-run stand with Jamie Smith and added 158 runs with Joe Root for the third wicket to put England in a commanding position.
