Coolie Enters All-Time Top 5 in BMS Ticket Sales for Tamil Films

India’s top preference for booking movie tickets is a portal called BookMyShow (BMS), and the cinema-loving country’s enthusiasm for movies is often reflected in the statistics of BMS bookings. Among the Tamil movies, superstar Rajinikanth starrer blockbuster hit Coolie has emerged as one of the biggest performers on the platform this year.

Coolie has now stormed into the all-time top five Tamil films on BMS, racing past recent heavyweights like Amaran and The GOAT. The film’s BMS ticket sales stand at 6 million+, an extraordinary feat within weeks of release.

While Coolie has already secured the No. 3 position, attention now shifts to whether the film can close the gap with Vijay’s Leo at 7.3 million. However, trade analysts note that catching up with Leo appears challenging given the current trajectory.

Notably, the benchmark on BMS is still set by Rajinikanth’s own Jailer, which created history in 2023 with 9.21 million tickets sold, a figure that remains unbeaten. Vijay’s Leo follows at second place, while Coolie’s strong entry at No. 3 reaffirms Rajinikanth’s unmatched pull at the box office.
