NorthEast United forward Alaaeddine Ajaraie broke the record for most goals scored in a single Indian Super League (ISL) season after scoring in the match against Jamshedpur FC on Thursday.
He scored his 19th goal of the season, breaking the record held by Ferran Corominas (FC Goa) and Bartholomew Ogbeche (Hyderabad FC) from the 2017-18 and 2021-22 seasons respectively.
NEUFC signed the 32-year-old from Moroccan top-tier side FAR Rabat for the 2024-25 season with an option to extend the contract for another year.
Ajaraie won the CAF Confederation Cup in 2020, where NorthEast United FC’s Regragui was his teammate. After winning the CAF Confederation Cup, Ajaraie moved to Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès (MAS Fes), Morocco’s oldest sports club before joining Muaither SC.
