Ranji Trophy: Kerala uses concussion sub to replace Salman Nizar with Shoun Roger

Kerala has opted to substitute out Salman Nizar for the remainder of the Ranji Trophy semifinal against Gujarat after he sustained a knock to the head off the final ball of the Gujarat first-innings.

Arzan Nagwaswalla attempted a slog with Gujarat just two runs shy of the Kerala total of 457, but the ball bounced off Salman’s helmet before captain Sachin Baby completed the catch.

Despite joining in with the celebration after the wicket, Salman is understood to have experienced nausea, following which the team management decided to send him to the hospital for some precautionary scans.

Salman was seen stretchered out along the boundary line towards the ambulance right after the Kerala second innings got underway.

Shoun Roger will be the concussion replacement for the middle-order batter as the visitor looks to bat out the remainder of day five and seal its progress to the Ranji Trophy final.

Gujarat remains in contention despite losing out on the first-inning lead having picked four Kerala wickets in the second session of play. The team will need to wrap up the remaining six wickets quickly and hope to chase the target down.
