Modric is replaced by Rudiger as Madrid looks to preserve its cleansheet. Another attack down the left by the home team. But this time they choose to recycle possession. 

Real Madrid is in the clear now. Mbappe with a clever through ball for Vinicius, who pokes it past the keeper. Incisive football from Madrod. 

Girona steps up it high pressure in hopes of catching Real Madrid off guard. Los Blancos cut through with ease. Mbappe is set through. His left-footed shot is parried away by the Girona keeper.

Girona finally gets a spell of possession. But the home team forces a turn-over and re-initiates its attacking attempts. 

Mbappe chips in a cross and Vinicius leaps the highest inside the box. But he fails to head it downward. Chance missed. 

Girona continues to be under the pump. Real Madrid comfortably shuttles the ball from side to another. Vinicius and Mbappe consistently in the mix. 

Patient buildup from Real Madrid, before Alaba launches a long ball forward. Mbappe collects it under pressure and Madrid continues the attack. 

Girona wins a corner down the right. Real Madrid wins the ball back and race forward in the counterattack. Mbappe with the final shot. Saved by keeper Paulo Gazzaniga. 

Real Madrid starts the game on the front foot. Gains an early control on possession. Vinicius makes the first attacking foray down the left. The cross floats over everyone. 

Real Madrid can draw level with Barcelona at the top of La Liga standings with a win tonight.
