Sumo: Actor Shiva’s long-delayed film is finally releasing in theaters!

Sumo starring actor Shiva, Priya Anand, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, and Yoshinori Tashiro among others is a long delayed Tamil movie with story, direction by SP Hosimin, and screenplay by actor Shiva himself. A Vels Film International production, Sumo was filmed in 2019 and even had a trailer release that year.

However for reasons unknown, the film remained unreleased for close to 5+ years now. Sumo is now finally hitting theater screens on April 25, 2025, and Vels Film International has been entusiatically promoting the comedy’s release via their social media handles.

Sumo has Shiva, Priya Anand, and Yogi Babu in a love triangle, whereas Yoshinori Tashiro plays a sumo wrestler from Japan, who somehow ends up in India with all his memories wiped. How Shiva and VTV Ganesh escort Tashorio’s character back to Japan, enabling him to win an important wrestling tournament is what forms the rest of the story.

Sumo has Nivas K Prasanna for music, Rajiv Menon for cinematography, and Praveen KL for edits.
