Suriya’s Retro trailer cut by Alphonse Puthren!

Actor Suriya’s Retro is gearing up for a trailer release and audio launch later this evening, and at this time, the makers have revealed that the Retro trailer is cut version of filmmaker Alphonse Puthren. To the unversed, Retro writer, director, co-producer Karthik Subbaraj and Alphonse Puthren go way back, and both of them participated in a 2009 reality TV show called ‘Nalaiya Iyakkunar‘ (The director of tomorrow) on Kalaignar TV Tamil channel. 

Karthik Subbaraj and Alphonse Puthren were in the same team that also consisted of actors Vijay Sethupathi, Simha and Rajesh Murugesan. They ended up winning Nalaiya Iyakkunar 16 years ago, and each one of them ended up etching a name of themselves in Tamil Cinema. This almost two decade old friendship in legendary in Kollywood, and hence the Alphone Puthren-Karthik Subbaraj reunion on Retro excites fans and movie buffs alike. 

 

Retro is a gangster action thriller that also stars Pooja Hegde in the lead. A joint production venture of Jyotika and Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, and Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Films, the film has Santhosh Narayanan for music, and releases in theaters on May 1, 2025.
