WPL: Associate nation players who have taken part in Women’s Premier League
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 will be the third edition of the T20 tournament, played by five teams across 22 games with the final set to take place on March 15.
In the last two seasons, players from Associate nations — countries that have established cricket but do not qualify for full membership in the International Cricket Council (ICC ) — have been a part of the WPL.
According to the rules, WPL teams are permitted to field five overseas players, as long as the fifth player represents an Associate nation.
In 2023, USA pacer Tara Norris became the first player from an Associate nation to be picked in the WPL. The Delhi Capitals, in her first match, claimed the first five-wicket haul in WPL history. She took seven wickets in five games but went unsold in the auctions that followed.
Kathryn Bryce was picked up by Gujarat Giants in the 2024 auction, making her the second Associate nation player to take part in the WPL. In the eight games she played, the Scottish skipper scored 83 runs and took four wickets. However, she was released by the team ahead of the 2025 mini-auction.
Sarah Bryce, vice-captain of the Scottish cricket team, was picked by Delhi Capitals in the 2025 auction. The wicketkeeper was the only foreign acquisition for Delhi. The 25-year-old becomes the second Scottish player to feature in the WPL after her sister Kathryn.
