Australia vs South Africa Highlights, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Match called off due to heavy rain in Rawalpindi

Australia vs South Africa Highlights, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Match called off due to heavy rain in Rawalpindi

The match has officially been called off. Australia and South Africa will share a point each. The washout today means the loser of the England vs Afghanistan game tomorrow will be knocked out of the competition.

Our reporter informs us that it is now raining heavily at the venue. Not looking good for Australia and South Africa. Meanwhile, a washout today will breathe fresh life into England and Afghanistan’s campaigns.

We started losing overs from 3:30 PM IST onwards, so it has been around 45 minutes in that territory. The cut-off for a 20-over game is 8:02 PM IST.

The latest update it that rain is still around, and puddles have formed on the covers. Still a long time until we can sense any possibility of play taking place today.

There is still no sight of action beginning anytime soon. A steady drizzle has also settled in and it doesn’t look very good.

It is still very gloomy at the venue, but the silver lining is we haven’t lost any overs yet. Overs will start reducing only after 3:30 PM IST.

There is still a light drizzle around at the venue and the covers are on. Not the best of news for cricket fans.

The toss in Rawalpindi has been delayed due to a wet outfield.

It is raining at the ground and the toss is likely to be delayed. It is very gloomy out there, “and highly unlikely we will have a game unless weather clears up”, says Shayan. The covers are on at the venue and the pitch is covered.

The big-hitting Heinrich Klaasen missed South Africa’s campaign opener against Afghanistan, and will have to undergo a fitness test before being deemed available for today’s match. The Proteas will want their most explosive batter to get some game time before the semifinals.

“It’s a rainy morning in Islamabad, so expect a delayed start,” informs our reporter Shayan Acharya.
