Barcelona vs Osasuna: Why was the La Liga game cancelled today?
The La Liga 2024-25 match between Barcelona and Osasuna was all set to be played at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona on Saturday.
Both teams announced their line-ups, and the players went in to warm up, before Barcelona declared that the game was postponed through its stadium speakers.
The La Liga clash, Barcelona vs Osasuna was postponed because of the passing of Barca’s first-team doctor Carles Miñarro García.
“FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro García this evening For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date,” the Catalan club said in a statement.

“The FC Barcelona Board of Directors and all staff extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
The 50-year-old Miñarro Garcia joined the medical staff of Barcelona’s first team last season after having previously worked with its futsal team.
“I can’t believe it,” Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo wrote on X. “Rest in peace, Doc.”
Barcelona, coming into the match after a 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League, leads the La Liga standings, with 57 points from 26 games, while Osasuna is 11th, with 33 points from the 26 clashes.
According to La Liga, a new date has not been set yet. However, the league’s competition committee will announce it in the coming days.
