Goals from Martin, Casado, Araujo and Lewandowski secure full points for Barcelona against Real Sociedad, taking it to the top of La Liga again and three points ahead of rival Real Madrid.

Yamal sets the ball down for Lewandowski, who takes a shot from outside the box. But his shot is just too high and Barcelona continues looking for a fifth goal to round off a commanding victory.

This game has been a match of contrasts, with Barca having 26 shots to zero from Sociedad, giving a picture of how vicious the Blaugrana have been in this game tonight.

Barcelona looks to stretch the defence, with small passes, from left to right, but Real Sociedad has all its men at the back and wards off another attack.

The win, as it stands, will power Barcelona to 57 points from 26 games, which is three more than arch-rival Real Madrid and one more than Atletico Madrid.

Yamal floats in a pass for Lewandowski on his right but the Pole fails to direct the ball to the correct direction missing out on his second and Barca’s fifth goal of the night.

A bit over 10 minutes of regulation time left in the game but Barcelona looks to confirmed three precious points in its kitty. Moreover, its 71 goals in La Liga is at least 16 more than team placed second, which is Real Madrid.

Barcelona looks to be using the long-ball knowledge of De Jong really well as he tries to pull strings from a distance. Just when Sociedad clears, Fermin and Yamal try to create another chance, which is seen out by the visitors.

Rea Socieadad might have lost the match but its legacy of academy lives on. At least nine of the players used by Sociedad today have come through its youth academy, a stat to be proud of for any football club in the world.

Oskarsson looks to have picked up a back injury but is able to walk now. Meanwhile, Fermin Lopez takes the field for Barcelona, being replaced by Dani Olmo.

Meanwhile, Sociedad makes another change, with Jon Aramburu being replaced by Hamari Traore.

De Jong shows brilliant vision with a lofted ball for Olmo, who rushed into the box and shoots on the half-volley. But Remiro makes a good save to keep the score 4-0.

Real Sociedad looks dumbfounded by the goalscoring ability, with Barca’s front-four now being Yamal, Torres, Olmo and Lewandowski – a statement of danger in itself, given the current form.

Barcelona widens the lead further as Araujo takes a shot, which is then deflected by Lewandowski and the goalkeeper is completely fooled by the footwork as Barca goes 4-0 up at home.

Sociedad attacks on the counter and Oskarsson almost creates a key chance in the penalty box but Raphinha does his defensive duties to clear the ball out of danger.

Lamine Yamal gets touch outside the Sociedad box and tries to set up another attack. But he delays taking the shot and is dispossessed eventually.

Soceidad’s frustration is getting a bit evident as Casado gets to the ground after a stern challenge by the visitors and the free-kick is taken quickly.

Barcelona pepper around the opposition penalty box and as Pedri tries to shift to his left, he brought down for a free-kick. Raphinha takes the free-kick and the ball goes just wide!

Olmo gets the ball as he starts the counter attack and he crosses to Lamine Yamal on the far post, to his right but he Spanish youngster had run a bit too much as he fails to get into a position to take a shot.

Barcelona resumes the match on the same note as it stopped it, attacking frequently and dominating possession.

Double change for Real Sociedad as the visitors looks to pull off a comeback against the league-leader in Barcelona.

Goals from Gerard Martin and Marc Casado ensure Barcelona has a comfortable lead, going into the break while Dani Olmo has been the main architect for both the strikes.

Barcelona gets a corner kick, which Raphinha takes. However, the ball is cleared out of danger by Sociedad initially. But Olmo tries to get a shot seconds later, which ends to nothing.

Real Sociedad last beat Barcelona at the latter’s home in May 2023, when Merino and Sorloth scored two goals in either half in a 2-1 in. 

Sociedad tries to attack in the last few minute of the first half but Kounde comes to Barca’s rescue, making a crucial clearance and keeping the visitors at bay.

Barcelona’s Yamal and Kounde combine to set up a Casado in the centre, whose shot is blocked by Remiro.

Sociedad looks to have been forced into its defensive hole as Barcelona rains attacks one after the other, with Lewandowski making quick runs behind the defence.

Olmo carries the ball into the final third, with two players as his cover on either flank, but his through ball is hit too strongly as it ends in the gloves for Remiro. 

Barcelona is using the full width of the pitch, making the visitors pay for their numerical disadvantage, switching play from the left to right and making frequent runs into the final third.

With the two-goal lead, Barcelona is back on top of the La Liga standings and if the match ends with this scoreline, it would be bad news for defending champion Real Madrid, which loss to Rea Betis last night.

Barcelona gets a corner kick, which Raphinha takes. The ball initially cleared by Sociedad, is shot back in by Olmo, which is deflected off Casado into the net.

That’s the second assist by Olmo, what a playmaker is has proven to be. 

Barcelona goes for an attack, with Yamal running along the right flank and passing to Olmo, who then sets up Martin on the far post. Gerard Martno makes no mistake to shoot first-time and find his first goal for FC Barcelona!

Barcelona is making more and more forays into the box and Raphinha and Lewandowski combine in the box. The Polish striker is immediately surrounded by three defenders, who ensure the shot is not taken and the score remains 0-0.

Barcelona goes for an attack right away, with Olmo running into the box, shifting to his left and then going for a shot, which is blocked by Sociedad.

Sociedad replaces Jon Olasagasti with Jon Martin after one of its centre-back gets set off and it remains to be seen how Barca can use the numerical advantage.

Barcelona attacks against the run of play as Olmo runs into the final third. But he is pulled down by Aritz. The referee gives a direct red to the player for denying a clear goalscoring chance with a foul.

Real Sociedad attacks on the counter, with Oskarsson getting a long ball. He gets into a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper but misses the target. The linesman then raises the flag for off-side.

Lamine Yamal gets the ball along the right flank and just before he puts his foot on the gas, he realises there are no spaces to attack and chooses to go backwards.

Sociedad gets back to exchanging passes at the back, luring Barcelona out so that it can attack on the counter but Barca has its higher block well-placed in a 3-2 trapezoidal formation.

Sociedad tries to attack on the counter and Barrenetxea gets the ball along the right and just when he tries to side-step his marker, he concedes a foul and the attack is put to bed.

Barcelona gets a corner kick, which gives Flick’s men a chance to score from a set-piece. But Zubimendi clears the ball out of danger.

Pablo Mari gets the ball in the midfield and tries to beat Araujo and then takes a shot, which is way off-target. 

Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal gets the ball along the right flank and draws three defenders towards himself to allow Olmo to make the overlapping run. However, he loses control in the box and the ball lands safely into the gloves of Remiro.

Lewandowski and Olmo now combine in the midfield to build an attack but the bal goes out of play for a throw-in.

Barcelona attacks against the run of play, with Raphinha getting the ball along the left flank and combining with Lewandowski, who is eventually dispossessed.

Barcelona is maintaining a firm four-man defence line as Sociedad tries to stitch passes together for an overlapping run, which is spoiled by Araujo.

Real Sociedad thought that it had the opening goal, stunning Barcelona but the shot by Elustondo is ruled out as the visitors were off-side during the buildup.

Barcelona enjoying possession early on as Kounde gets the ball back to the goalkeeper and Barca tries to draw the opponent out of its defensive half.

Over 50, 000 people have made their way into theOlímpic Lluís Companys. Barca has made four changes from the match against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semifinal.

The La Liga match between Barcelona and Real Sociedad begins, with the visitors getting the ball rolling. Both Barca and Sociedad start in their home kits.

The players of both teams walk out the tunnel with fans of Barcelona singing the anthem of the club and the players acknowledge them with a wave of hands.

The last time Barcelona hosted Real Sociedad, Barca won the match 2-0, with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal finding the net for the hosts.

The German coach replaced Xavi Hernandez last summer after a disappointing campaign where Barcelona finished without silverware.

Flick’s side lead La Liga on goal difference ahead of champion Real Madrid, is in the Copa del Rey semifinals against Atletico and will face Benfica in the Champions League last 16.

It leaves Barca with a packed schedule in the weeks ahead, starting with the visit of Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday, but Flick said he had no complaints.
