England pacer Brydon Carse out of Champions Trophy 2025, Rehan Ahmed named replacement

England fast bowler has been ruled out for the remainder of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy due to a left toe injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed through a statement on Monday.

Carse sustained the injury during England’s opening Group B match against Australia on Saturday in Lahore. He was expensive in that game, with figures of 0/69 from seven overs.

“England fast bowler Brydon Carse will return home this week to continue his recovery from a toe injury,” the ECB added.

Leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed was named as Carse’s replacement and he will join the squad in Pakistan later this week.

The Three Lions opened their Champions Trophy campaign with a loss to Australia and is third in the standings. They face Afghanistan next and could get knocked out of the tournament if they lose the contest.
