FIFA will launch the Women’s Club World Cup (2028, quadrennial) and the Women’s Champions Cup (2026, annual), the first global club competition in women’s football.

Here’s all you need to know about the Women’s Club World Cup.

FIFA will launch the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup in 2028, a quadrennial tournament featuring 19 of the world’s top clubs. Additionally, an annual FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will kick off in 2026, contested by the six winners of the confederation club competitions in the years when the Women’s Club World Cup does not take place.

The first edition of the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup in 2028 will involve 19 clubs. Six clubs will participate in a play-in phase, with the three winners advancing to the next stage. This stage will consist of four groups of four teams each, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the knockout stage.

The slot allocation for the inaugural FIFA Women’s Club World Cup is as follows: AFC, CAF, Concacaf, and CONMEBOL will each have two direct slots and one play-in slot. UEFA will have five direct slots and one play-in slot. OFC will have one play-in slot.
