IPL 2025: Full list of RCB captains over the years; captaincy record, stats, win-loss ratio

Rajat Patidar was named Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season as the franchise continues to hunt for an elusive title.

The 31-year-old is set to become the team’s eighth captain, and takes over the reins of the team from Faf du Plessis, who has moved to Delhi Capitals.

The team’s longest-serving captain is Virat Kohli, who led the side in 143 matches between 2011 and 2023. RCB reached the final once (2016) under his leadership and advanced to the playoffs four times (2015, 2016, 2020, 2021).

While RCB has won the most number of matches (66) under Kohli’s captaincy, legendary spinner Anil Kumble remains the franchise’s most successful captain, with a win/loss ratio of 1.363.
