Jorge Martin’s comeback in jeopardy – Will he miss his home race too?
MotoGP star Jorge Martin’s comeback remains uncertain after his injury during pre-season testing. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s happening:
Martin crashed during pre-season testing in Sepang, fracturing his hand and foot. He underwent surgery and missed the season opener in Thailand.
Martin has confirmed he will miss both the Argentina Grand Prix and the Americas Grand Prix in Austin. His return for Qatar (April 11-13) is also uncertain.
“I’m really suffering, it’s not my moment. I’m struggling to recover as fast as I would like,” Martin said via video link before the Argentina GP.
If his recovery progresses well, Martin may target a comeback at his home race in Spain later in April.
Aprilia team principal Massimo Rivola is waiting for Martin’s full recovery, with possible test sessions planned before his return.
Six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez, who beat Martin to the Ducati factory seat, currently tops the standings after a dominant weekend in Thailand.
