“Looking forward to going to Chepauk” – Ashwin’s excitement builds as he returns to CSK for IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has kicked off its pre-season training for IPL 2025, and the big news is Ravichandran Ashwin’s return to the franchise after over a decade. Ashwin, who played a vital role in CSK’s early IPL wins, left the team in 2015 but is now back to don the yellow jersey again.

“It feels odd actually. It’s been so many years since I left. Coming back into the same team, all the people are the same. Every day I used to practise vigorously for the season, but after coming here today, I feel like I am a very senior person… Nevertheless, I am looking forward to going to Chepauk as well,” Ashwin said.

Ashwin has evolved into one of India’s top spinners, even captaining Punjab Kings in 2018-19. His return brings valuable experience and tactical expertise to CSK. With the season starting on March 22, CSK is focused on preparation, especially after missing out on the title in 2024.

The team has set up a 10-day training camp at its High-Performance Centre in Navalur, where Ashwin has joined the squad. Defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament opener.
