SA vs NZ: New Zealand records highest-ever Champions Trophy total during semifinal against South Africa

New Zealand recorded the highest team score in the Champions Trophy during its last-four clash of the 2025 edition against South Africa in Lahore on Wednesday.

The previous record for the highest total was held by Australia, which scored 356 for five against England in Lahore earlier this tournament. New Zealand’s previous highest total was during the 2004 edition when the side posted 347 for four against USA.

The Kiwis were powered to the record total of 362 for six thanks to twin hundreds from Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson. The duo put on a 164-run partnership for the second wicket, the biggest stand for any wicket for New Zealand in Champions Trophy history.

Though New Zealand lost Williamson and Rachin before the 40th over, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips provided the finishing touched to lift the side past the 300-run mark.

South Africa and New Zealand are gunning for a second Champions Trophy title, with the winner of their clash set to take on India in Dubai on Sunday in the final.
