Who will India play in Champions Trophy 2025 semifinals after Australia vs Afghanistan match abandoned?
The Australia vs Afghanistan Group B match of the Champions Trophy 2025 was abandoned after rain played spoilsport at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday.
The result meant that Australia qualified for the semifinals while Afghanistan’s hopes hung by a thread as it will have to wait and see if England defeats South Africa by a big margin (207 runs).
While Australia finished the league with four points, Afghanistan pocketed three points. Depending on Saturday’s result, the final Group standings could change.
From Group A, India and New Zealand have already qualified for the semifinals. However, the final Group standings will be finalised after the two teams play each other on Sunday in the last league game of the tournament.
Currently, New Zealand is at the top with an NRR of +0.863 while India has +0.647.
Pakistan finished at the bottom of the Group A due to its poor NRR than Bangladesh.
