Almiron gives away the ball and it comes to Messi inside the box. He touches it forward before taking a shot which is once again saved by Guzan.

Messi with the ball in the middle and plays Allende though into the box. He takes another touch before taking a shot from a tight angle which is saved by Guzan.
Muyumba gets the ball outside the box and takes a shot which is directed onto the crossbar by a stretching Novo.
At the other end, Messi combines with Suarez to set himself up inside the box. His shot on the turn is pushed away for a corner by Guzan, after producing a stunning save.
Allen gives the ball away in his own box and Miranchuk uses the opportunity to lay it on a plate for Lath. However, he is unable to get his shot off and the chance is wasted.
Miami wins a freekick in the opposition’s half and quickly resumes play. Suarez gets the ball on the right and plays it to Abla on the left edge of the box. He hits it on the volley and it whizzes just past the right post.
A much more even start to the half compared to the first with both teams exchanging possession of the ball and creating goal-scoring chances.
The ball comes into the Atlanta box where Suarez fails to get a touch. Allende comes in and goes down claiming a foul from Gregersen. The referee has a good look and says play on.
Busquets gives away the ball in the opposition half. Almiron looks to break away but Busquets does well to recover and win the ball back.

Messi stands over the freekick and keeps his attempt on target. But the shot lacks power and Guzan makes an easy save.

The ball is bounced around the Atlanta box and it falls to Messi who hits it on the half-volley. Guzan produces a spectacular save to push the ball away for a corner.

Messi scores! Slisz gives away the ball in his own final third to Messi. He takes a touch before chipping it over an advancing Guzan for his first goal of the league season.
Suarez brings down the ball for Alba and tries to make a run. However, he is stopped by the offside flag going up on the far side.
Corner comes in from the right for Miami. Suarez gets a touch on it inside the box but cannot take a shot as it is cleared away by the Atlanta defence.
Miami is looking for an immediate reply but cannot find any space between the Atlanta defence.
Lath scores! Almiron finds Lennon on the right side of the box with a ball over the top. He brings it down and plays a cross into the middle where Lath rises the highest to head the ball into the back of the net.
Messi plays a ball over the top for Allende who tries to bring it down in the box but ends up conceding a foul.

Almiron drives down the right and cuts back a pass the edge of the box. Gregersen shoots it but ends up sending it wide.
Alba tries to find Suarez out front but ends up giving the ball away. Atlanta is on the attack and Amador takes a shot which is blocked by the Miami defence.

This is the first meeting between the two side since Atlanta knocked out Inter Miami in the first round of playoffs last season.
