CSK cricket academy to launch centres in Puducherry and Tenkasi

The Chennai Super Kings are set to open two new cricket academies in Puducherry and Tenkasi this summer, the Indian Premier League franchise announced on Wednesday.

The said centres are set to start coaching sessions in April.

Talking about the new Super Kings academies in Tamil Nadu, KS Viswanathan, CSK’s managing director, said: “We have already established a strong footprint over the last three years in Tamil Nadu, and these two centers in Pondicherry and Tenkasi will be a welcome addition to this list.

“Our vision is to develop grassroots cricket in the state and beyond and I am very confident that we will develop quality cricketers going forward as we venture into newer places in the state and the country.” 

The Academy in Pondicherry/Puducherry will be a partnership with Stansford International Higher Secondary School and will have four Turf wickets, two Astro Turf wickets, two Matting wickets, a ground and floodlights.

In Tenkasi, the Super Kings Academy will join hands with the Premier Sports Academy in Kanakkapillaivalasai. The facility will be equipped with two Turf wickets, two Astro Turf Wickets, a Matting Wicket, three Indoor Wickets, a ground and floodlights.

Launched in April 2022, the Super Kings academies are currently operational in Chennai (Thoraipakkam, Guru Nanak College in Velachery, Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Porur and SV High School in Vanagaram), Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Trichy, Hosur, Tirunelveli, Karaikudi, Vellore, Madurai, and Delhi in India apart from international centres in Reading (United Kingdom), Dallas (USA), Phoenix (USA), Austin (USA), Boston (USA), Atlanta (USA), Bay Area (USA) and Sydney (Australia).
