Dhoni remains non-committal on IPL future

Dhoni remains non-committal on IPL future

MS Dhoni has once again expressed his deep bond with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), stating that he can continue playing for the franchise as long as he wants. However, he remains non-committal about his future in the IPL, leaving questions about his next season unanswered.

The 42-year-old, who led CSK to five IPL titles, stepped down as captain ahead of the 2024 season but continues to be a key presence in the squad. Despite ongoing speculation about his retirement, Dhoni has remained non-committal about when he will finally hang up his boots.

After guiding CSK to another IPL title in 2023, Dhoni underwent knee surgery but returned for the 2024 season, playing a finisher’s role.

Last year, Dhoni mentioned that he wanted to “enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I’m able to play.” He also explained why he faced so few balls in the last IPL, revealing that with the T20 World Cup right after, he prioritised giving players like Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja more opportunities to prove themselves for a spot in the Indian team.
