The tempo has slowed down from the frantic pace that ruled the roost for the better part of the closing stage in regulation time.

Gomez with the whipped in ball and Oyarzabal heads it with perfection to balance the scales in the tie! Extra-time beckons if this remains!

Enough, more than enough, time for Sociedad to rattle the net once more to force the match into extra-time. 

Remiro, seconds after denying Vinicius, fails to swat the ball away as Tchouameni regulation header takes a deflection off the ‘keeper and enters the net to send the home crowd into delirium!

Vinicius passes it inside the box and Bellingham quite calmly volleys it into the net to bring balance into the tie once again! What a match!

It’s Oyarzabal’s shot from the just outside the box pings off the upright and goes into the net to get his ahead in the tie!

While Vasquez comes off for Luka Modric in the Madrid side, Aramburu comes off for Traore.

The visitor looks intent on finishing the game in regulation time as Sociedad seems to have control for now.

That will go as an own goal as Marin’s hard grounded cross into the middle of the box from a tight angle gets a fortunate and lucky deflection off David Alaba which helps the ball enter the net.

Bellingham is handed the ball on a platter and he tries to curl it past the ‘keeper but the custodian makes a strong save to keep the scoreline same.

Poor pass from Camavinga gifts the ball to the opponent as Sociedad finds itself with a chance. Zubimendi is played through on goal but he isn’t able to control it under his feet. The replay also showed him to perhaps be offside, but the chance was there nonetheless.

The Englishman gets a smack in the face from the paw of the Sociedad ‘keeper while defending an attempt, but the midfielder is good to go again.

Early chance for Madrid to get a cushion in the tie.

As it stands, Real Madrid will be going to the Copa del Rey final. Real Sociedad has another 45 minutes to score at least one more goal to stay in the tie.

Nayef Aguerd is forced to come off with an injury as Aritz Elustondo comes on.

Chance for Madrid to give a quick riposte to Sociedad’s goal but his shot goes past the far post for a goal kick. Sociedad seems to be operating on the counter-attack strategy with just a couple of their players high up, applying the press on the Madrid defenders.

And the visitor has broken the deadlock! Acres of space in front of him, Barrenetxea passes it between the legs of the Madrid ‘keeper to get his side ahead on the night!

So far, we’ve seen the visitor mostly hitting on the counter but it now has the ball as it tries to pass it around while trying to tolerate sharp jeers from the Madrid crowd.

Sucic looks up and lets one fly from distance but the ball rustles the side netting.

Bellingham gets the ball in the middle of the park and lays it for Vinicius Junior on the right. The winger takes a few touches and takes a shot as Alex Remiro dives to parry the ball behind for a corner.

What an audacious attempt from Endrick! The Brazilian youngster keeps close to the defender and wins the battle for the ball. He lifts it up and goes for an acrobatic bicycle-kick but the shot is wayward. Madrid with the first few chances of the half.

Quite cautious from both sides so far, just gauging their opponents. But Real Madrid unleashes the first real chance of the match so far as Endrick finds the ball at the edge of the box, turns, and takes a shot at goal but rolls off target.

After the first minute or so saw Real Madrid with the ball, Sociedad took away the ball and made its first inroad towards the opposition box. A cross from the left side goes straight into Lunin’s hands however.

And the match is underway! Real Madrid gets us going, attacking from left to right!

The last time Real Sociedad beat Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey was back in 2020 when it won 4-3 to enter the semifinals. Can the side pull off a similar stunt and enter the final this year? Only about 10 minutes to go for kick-off!
