IPL 2025: GT replaces Jos Buttler with Kusal Mendis for Playoffs, PBKS signs Jamieson
Gujarat Titans on Thursday confirmed Kusal Mendis will replace Jos Buttler after he leaves for international duty at the end of the side’s league campaign in Indian Premier League 2025.
The Sri Lanka batter will join the squad from May 26 for the Playoffs. He was signed by the 2022 champion for Rs. 75 lakh. This was the first call-up for Mendis in the IPL.
Buttler has been a rich vein of form for GT this season. He had scored 500 runs in 11 innings at an average of 71 and a strike rate of nearly 164. The former England captain, however, will join the national side for its One-Day International series against West Indies, which starts from June 29.
Punjab Kings also announced New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson as the replacement for his compatriot, Lockie Ferguson, who had suffered an injury earlier this season.
