Mayank Yadav replaces Shardul Thakur in LSG XI; to play first match of IPL 2025

Mayank Yadav has returned to Lucknow Super Giants’ playing XI for the clash against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, replacing all-rounder Shardul Thakur.

The 22-year-old fast bowler had been sidelined since October 2024 due to a back injury. His last competitive appearance came during his international debut, where he featured in three T20Is against Bangladesh at home. Since then, he missed the entire domestic season and underwent rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (formerly known as the NCA) in Bengaluru.

Mayank had a limited role for LSG last season, playing just four matches. Despite that, he was among the five players the franchise chose to retain ahead of the mega auction.
