Aston Villa signs Victor Lindelof on free transfer
Aston Villa on Monday announced the signing of former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof in a deadline-day transfer.
Though Villa did not disclose the length of his contract, media reports suggested Lindelof will move to Villa Park for two years with an option to extend for a third.
Lindelof had plied his wares for United for eight seasons and left after the 2024-25 season when his contract expired. The Sweden international has 194 apperances in the Premier League.
The free transfer is an attempt to boost the squad strength as Unai Emery’s team faces a gruelling season ahead where it will also be featuring in the UEFA Europa League.
Villa is currently parked at 19th place in the Premier League points table with just one point from its three games. It has drawn with Newcastle United and lost to Crystal Palace and Brentford so far.
