Bayer Leverkusen sacks Erik ten Hag after just two matches
Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen announced on Monday that it has sacked its manager Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag was in charge of just two games in the new season of the Bundesliga, managing a draw and a loss. Leverkusen currently sits 12th on the table.
The club added that the assistant coaching staff will temporarily take over training duties.
The decision comes in the wake of Leverkusen’s 3-3 draw against Werder Bremen, despite a red card in the 63rd minute for the latter. Abdoul Karim Koulibaly scored in the injury time to salvage an unlikely draw.
The Dutchman was appointed by Leverkusen in May earlier this year, to replace Xabi Alonso at the helm, who was roped in by Spanish giant Real Madrid.
In his previous stint with Premier League club Manchester United, he won two domestic cups in two and a half years but was fired after the club’s worst start to a season, with four defeats in nine league games.

He previously succeeded in bringing the good times back to Ajax, leading the biggest team in the Netherlands to three Eredivisie titles and the Champions League semifinals in entertaining style in 2019.
