Joe Root became the fastest player to score 13000 runs in Test cricket during England’s One-off Test against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge on Thursday.

Root reached the milestone in his 153rd match, overtaking Jacques Kallis’ record of achieving the mark in his 159th outing.

Ahead of the game, Root needed 28 runs to reach the figure. The England no. 4 scored 34 runs off 44 balls before getting out to Blessing Muzarabani.
