India vs Singapore AFC Asian Cup qualifier moved from Bengaluru to Goa

India vs Singapore AFC Asian Cup qualifier moved from Bengaluru to Goa

The Indian men’s football team’s AFC Asian Cup 2026 qualifier Group C match against Singapore will be played on October 14 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) confirmed on Thursday.

Khalid Jamil’s side will face Singapore twice in the October international window, with the first match to be played on October 9 at the National Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

“The teams will travel to Goa after the match for the second leg of the Asian Cup qualifiers,” AIFF said in a post on social media.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, but was changed due to logistical challenges.

“The Sree Kanteerava Stadium is used for all sports, including athletics. When a football match is scheduled, we need time to keep the stadium in good condition,” N.A. Haris, the Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) president, stated.

“This match was suddenly allotted to us. We are very sad that the matches are going somewhere else, but it is not in our control.”

Haris added that the KSFA will soon “have a very good stadium coming up in Bengaluru”.

India is currently winless in the third round of qualifiers, drawing 0-0 with Bangladesh before losing 0-1 to Hong Kong, in what was Manolo Marquez’s final match in charge before Jamil took over.
