Jitesh Sharma, Akshay Wadkar headline inaugural Vidarbha Pro T20 League
Jitesh Sharma, a T20 international and Ranji Trophy-winning captain Akshay Wadkar will lead a star-studded field in the inaugural Vidarbha Pro T20 League, to be played at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha, on the outskirts of Nagpur, from June 5 to 15.
The Vidarbha Cricket Association announced the list of six squads and unveiled the owners of the six franchises. Unlike in most other domestic T20 franchise-based leagues, the VCA senior selection committee has picked the squads instead of the owners picking players through an auction or a draft.
Veteran batter Karun Nair and spinner Harsh Dubey, who created a record for picking the most wickets in a Ranji season, have both been selected to be a part of India’s squad for the England tour next month and will miss the league. Besides the duo, all the other active stars from Vidarbha will participate in the league.
A three-team women’s league will also simultaneously be played, with Bharti Fulmali and Mona Meshram among star attractions.
