Pakistan squad for Bangladesh T20Is announced: Big names left out
Pakistan has named a 16-player squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, leaving out senior stars Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi. The selectors said the squad was picked based on performances in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Salman Ali Agha will lead the side, with Shadab Khan as his deputy. Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah return, while Saim Ayub makes a comeback after recovering from an ankle injury sustained during the South Africa tour.
Top PSL run-scorer Sahibzada Farhan, who last played a T20I in 2018, is also recalled. The 29-year-old has scored 394 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 154.50.
This marks the beginning of Mike Hesson’s tenure as Pakistan coach.
The first T20I will be played on May 28, followed by fixtures on May 30 and June 1, respectively.
The series initially consisted of three ODIs and three T20Is. It was subsequently revised to five T20Is, including a couple of matches at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
Finally, it was changed to three T20Is with all games to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
