PKL 2025: Haryana Steelers mounts comeback against UP Yoddhas, U Mumba comfortably beats Bengaluru Bulls

Pro Kabaddi League reigning champion Haryana Steelers scripted a valiant comeback to beat UP Yoddhas 37-23 on Friday at the Viswanadh Sports Club in Visakhapatnam.

Naveen Kumar and Rahul Ahri bagged six points apiece on the night, with Rahul, Shivam Patare, and Jaideep pitching in with contributions. Yoddhas’ Gagan Gowda waged a lone war with 13 points — the only player in the side to cross the five-point mark in the match.

At the midway point in the first half, the Yoddhas inflicted the first ‘All Out’ of the match on the Steelers, with the UP side putting its stamp on the match.

While the Steelers dominated the final quarter of the first 20 minutes, the Yoddhas maintained a decent lead, ending the first half at 17-12.

With 12 minutes to go, the Steelers mounted a tremendous comeback to level the score at 20-20. From then on, the defending champion clinched victory and recorded its second win of the season. The Yoddhas were dealt their first loss of the season.

After the match, the Steelers sit fifth on the standings with the Yoddhas perched on fourth due to a superior score difference.

Earlier in the day, U Mumba eased past Bengaluru Bulls with a dominant 48-28 win on Friday at the Viswanadh Sports Club in Visakhapatnam, kicking off the second week of the 2025 Pro Kabaddi League season.

Ajit Chouhan, despite limping off the mat early on in the second half, ended up as U Mumba’s top-scorer on the night with 13 points, which included a six-point raid. Defender Rinku notched up a ‘High Five’ on the night.

For the Bulls, Aashish Malik and Alireza Mirzaian scored six points apiece as the Bengaluru-side failed to open its account in the season once again, and now has dropped to the bottom of the standings. On the other hand, U Mumba has jumped to second place after recording its third win of the campaign.
