PKL 2025 Highlights: Naveen, Shivam come clutch for Haryana Steelers against U Mumba; Aslam, Aditya combine for Puneri Paltan to beat Bengal Warriorz 45-36
Naveen Kumar is the story for Haryana Steelers tonight. A simply astonishing performance from Haryana Steelers’ main man, he has dug deep to pull his side out of a hole. Despite clearly battling an injury, Naveen produced a stunning performance to drag Haryana Steelers level with U Mumba in regulation time, including a stunning Super Raid to get U Mumba all out with seconds left to go on the clock.
With the scores level, we went to tiebreak and it was Shivam Patare’s turn to come clutch with a Super Raid to kill the tiebreak early. Naveen finished the match with a bonus point, and the Steelers took the two points tonight.
Naveen Kumar…is caught in the ankle hold! But he has the bonus point first, so Haryana Steelers wins!

Rahul Sethpal is caught in an ankle hold. Hope for U Mumba!
Sandeep is given a single point.

Shivam Patare…gets through one, and then two more! Shivam with a Super Raid, clutch from him!
Rohit Raghav…can’t get through!
Shivam Patare, Vinay, N.S. Jayasoorya Nagarajan, Rahul Sethpal, Naveen Kumar
Rohit Raghav, Ajit Chouhan, Amirmohammad Zafardanesh, Sandeep Kumar, Sunil Kumar
Less than a minute to go, and U Mumba leads by just a single point now…20 seconds on the clock and Ajit has a Do-or-Die Raid…can’t escape and WE HAVE A TIE! We are headed to another tiebreaker!
Naveen gets all out three remaining Mumbai defenders, and IT IS ALL OUT! Simply incredible stuff from him! Incredible stuff, and now Haryana Steelers leads! Ajit gets a bonus to level it up again.
Naveen is continuing for now, but is definitely struggling. Ajit on the Do-or-Die Raid, forced out by Jaideep! Could that turn the match? Vijay manages a Super Tackle to keep U Mumba ahead! Naveen is grimacing but he has got Parvesh now!
Rohit Raghav restarted the final ten minutes with an empty raid. Ajit faces a Do-or-Die Raid, and escapes a tackle from Neeraj! Naveen facing a Do-or-Die Raid, gets Sunil! And then he pulls off another fantastic diving point! The Steelers’ talisman is getting it back into this one.
Some concern now though, is Naveen limping? Looks like it.
We now enter the second strategic timeout of the day, with U Mumba having just about managed to keep its lead intact here. You feel that the next few minutes after the break will be crucial in determining which way this match goes.
First Do-or-Die Raid of the day is for U Mumba, Sandeep escapes Jaideep’s ankle hold! Naveen with a Do-or-Die Raid for Steelers now, pulls off a dubki to get two points! Astonishing tackle from Sunil Kumar, forces Shivam Patare off the mat for a Super Tackle!
Naveen gets the second half underway with an empty raid. Shivam Patare has the first point of the half with an athletic jump over the defender, before Sandeep gets the first U Mumba point of the half after escaping an ankle hold.
Wow, that first half has just flown by! A wonderful half of kabaddi comes to a close with U Mumba in a very slight lead. U Mumba dominated the early stages, getting Haryana Steelers all out in just over six minutes as it took an early ten point lead.
Steelers pivoted strategy quickly, sending Shivam Patare and Vinay for more of its raids. The strategy worked, and it managed to pull itself level before Lokesh’s wonderful Super Tackle gave U Mumba a small lead going into the break.
Fantastic raiding intensity so far, we’ve not had a Do-or-Die Raid yet today. Shivam Patare gets another touch point, and all of a sudden we are level! Brilliant from Lokesh right before the half-time break, pulls off the Super Tackle on Vinay to give U Mumba slender half-time lead.
Vinay with another hand touch, before Ajit escapes Jaideep’s tackle again. Brilliant scorpion kick for another point from Vinay! A couple of brilliant tackles in a row, first from Rahul Ahri and Rohit Raghav. Classic Sunil Kumar tackle, stops Naveen from scoring a touch point! Shivam nicks another point and the Steelers comeback is well and truly on now.
Ajit to restart after the break, gets the bonus and returns. Shivam gets a touch on Ajit, and all of a sudden U Mumba is staring at an all out now….Rohit Raghav is tackled by Neeraj and U Mumba is all out now.
Shivam Patare with another two-point raid for the Steelers! And with that, we have our first strategic timeout!
A fascinating first ten here. U Mumba steamrolled the early exchanges, blowing through Haryana Steelers to have it all out in just over six minutes. Steelers however, showed its mettle as defending champions, dragging itself back with a series of two-point raids. Can it get U Mumba all out soon to complete its comeback?
A lengthy delay as Vinay is convinced he has got two touches for Steelers. U Mumba sends it upstairs, but it is unsuccessful, and it burns its review early. Sunil is off now, first mistake of the day, you’d say. Two more from Vinay! He’s forcing Steelers back into this game slowly but surely. Ajit responds by running through Jaideep’s ankle hold.
Ajit gets a touch on Rahul, and all of a sudden Steelers have one player left! Rohit Raghav then produces the tackle, and in just over six minutes, U Mumba has Haryana Steelers all out! Early domination from the side from Mumbai. More than a ten-point lead already.
After a flurry of early points, teams are more content to exchange some empty raids. Ajit shows fantastic athleticism to get a touch on a Steelers defender now. Shivam Patare and Naveen have both made the mistake of entering the lobby without a touch while raiding so far. Elementary mistakes from the Steelers raiders here.
Ajit Chouhan gets U Mumba underway. Lands the bonus, and gets the touch point as well! Shivam Patare looks to open the scoring for Haryana Steelers, but gets caught by the ankle hold. Aggressive from Ajit Chouhan…forces two defenders into the lobby! another excellent start from U Mumba here. Naveen gets a point back for the Steelers.
Defending champions Haryana Steelers has won the toss, and U Mumba will raid first.

A symbolic moment there in the end as on Aslam’s raid, his counterpart Devank offers a handshake as the clock runs out. Both Aslam and Aditya bag 11 points apiece, while Devank’s 16 points are left waging a lone battle for the Warriorz.
Sushil is judged out before he goes on to touch a couple of Paltan players and crossing over to his half. However, a review has been taken. Review unsuccessful and Warriorz don’t have any reviews left.
A facile raid attempt from Aditya and the Warriorz wait till the final 10 seconds to pounce on the Paltan raider to trap him.
Still a healthy lead for the Paltan but plenty of time to go. A little over than six minutes left in the match.
One point for the Warriorz there after Aditya was powerfully pushed out of bounds.
Pankaj is happy with the Bonus Point. Then, a Paltan player self-outs himself during a Devank raid. A timeout has been taken now.
That’s another All Out! Bengal Warriorz come back in for the second time and it’s only been six minutes in the second half.
Pankaj swats his arm at Sandeep, who is teetering on the edge of the playing arena, as the Puneri raider gets a point. Next, Punit is stopped by all the Paltan players as the Paltan open up a seven-point gap.
Aditya showing off the tricks he has in his bag as he gets another point for the Paltan. Soon after, Devank is mightily blocked by Abinesh, as the raider is sent to the dugout. And that’s the first half of this match. Both Devank and Aslam have already notched up their respective Super 10s.
Devank with a relatively easier raid there. One point for the Warriorz.
FOUR POINTS! 2+2 from Manprit, it seems, as the Warriorz inflict an All Out on the Paltan. The gap is just that of a point.
The left-cover, it seems, thinks he has Aslam under his hold but the Paltan raider easily wiggles out to get his hand across the midway line. This is followed by a Super Tackle from the two Paltan players, who put all their might into pinning Devank down to the mat.
Aditya is thrown out of the playing arena and the Warriorz bring down the deficit to just two points. A great comeback from the Bengal side.
Manprit gets just just the one point after going past his marker, underneath the Paltan player, to cross the midway line. But the Warriorz are sticking close to the leading side.
All Out! Devank is enticed to go deeper in the opposition half and the Paltan players close in on him to trap the raider. That’s a six-point gap cropping up!
First strategic timeout of the match as the Paltan slowly pulling away from the Warriorz. Aslam and Aditya sharing the load for the leading side, with five points apiece, as Devank has notched up five points for the Warriorz.
Punit thinks he has gotten a touch and is merrily on his way back but Gurdeep says ‘Not so fast!’. The Paltan player dives in and prevents the opponent raider from the midway line.
Aslam on fire! Super Raid as he gets a Bonus + two points!
