RCB vs KKR Highlights, IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Kolkata Knight Riders match called off due to rain

That’s it folks. Match called off due to rain.

And, that means Kolkata Knight Riders have been knocked out of Playoff contention.

Drizzle still on. The toss for a 5-over game must take place before 10-40. Barely any time left now.

The drizzle continues at the Chinnaswamy. We are just under one hour away from the cut-off time for a 5-over game (10:56 pm).

The drizzle has only been getting worse over the last 15-odd minutes. The cut-off time for a 5-over game isn’t as far away as before.

Uh oh! The drizzle is back!

Live broadcast visuals showing super soppers getting to work to dry the outfield. We might be close to resumption, provided the rain doesn’t worsen from here.

“Powdery rain. But still there,” pings Sudarshan from the ground. We will start losing overs from 8.30 p.m.

For a five-over game, the cut-off time is 10.56 pm.

A small reduction in intensity, says Sudarshan. But the conditions are nowhere near ideal for a match start.

The drizzle has increased in intensity at the Chinnaswamy. One of those days….

‘Down to a slight drizzle now’, says Sudarshan from the Chinnaswamy. We might see a start if the rain continues to relent.

The toss has been officially delayed due to rain. The wait continues…..

Less than fifteen minutes to go for the toss. Despite a slight reduction in the intensity of rain, we are still quite a way away from the start of action.

Matches played: 36

RCB won: 15

KKR won: 21

Tied: 0

Last result: RCB won by 7 Wickets (March, 2025)

The drizzle has increased steadily, prompting the whole square to be covered.

Scatch that, it’s now a proper downpour!

‘There is a slight drizzle at the stadium’, pings our reporter N. Sudarshan. Still an hour to go for the toss though. Hopefully its a passing cloud that clears up quickly. The Chinnaswamy also has excellent drainage facilities which can get the ground ready just moments after the rain stops.

Playoffs qualification beckons Royal Challengers Bengaluru while elimination stares Kolkata Knight Riders in the face as the two sides meet in an Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Saturday.

A win for RCB over the defending champion will guarantee a top-four berth and clear the course for it to stake claim for a top-two spot. For KKR, a defeat will send the outfit crashing out.

The home side will certainly fancy its chances, for it has all overseas personnel – except injured pacer Josh Hazlewood – back after the week-long break, and has also seen skipper Rajat Patidar make significant progress after suffering a hand injury in the game against Chennai Super Kings on May 3.
