Serie A 2024-25: Napoli and Inter title-deciding matches moved to Friday with both coaches watching from stands
Scudetto chasing Napoli and Inter Milan will play their final Serie A games of the season on Friday instead of Sunday, the Italian league announced on Monday.
The Lega Serie A council decided Napoli’s home game against Cagliari and Inter’s away match against Como will kick off simultaneously at 2045 CEST (1845 GMT).
Six remaining matches will be played on Sunday, deciding the European places and relegation.
Antonio Conte’s Napoli is top of the league standings on 79 points, one ahead of defending champion Inter, going into the final matchday of Serie A 2024-25.
Conte and his counterpart, Simone Inzaghi, will have to watch the games from the stands. Conte was dismissed in the final minute of Napoli’s 0-0 draw at Parma on Sunday after he angrily confronted the opposition bench.
Parma coach Cristian Chivu was also sent off for his reaction. Inzaghi and Lazio coach Marco Baroni were shown red cards two minutes from the end of Inter’s 2-2 draw against Lazio for dissent.
Should the two sides end level on points, a playoff will be required to determine the league winner.
The potential playoff could be played on May 26, leaving time for Inter to prepare the Champions League final on May 31.
