Jasprit Bumrah Test wickets in 2024: Fifth most among Indian bowlers in a calendar year

Jasprit Bumrah took the most Test wickets in 2024, 71, after the end of the fourth match against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Monday. The next best bowler this year is England’s Gus Atkinson, who had 52 scalps in 11 matches.

Bumrah’s 71 wickets is now the fifth most by an Indian bowler in a calendar year, a list led by Kapil Dev, who picked 75 wickets in 18 matches in 1983. Overall, Shane Warne holds the record of picking most wickets in a calendar year – 96 in 15 matches in 2005.

In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah has 30 wickets at an average of 12.83. During the series, Bumrah also completed 200 Test wickets, becoming the fastest Indian pacer to achieve this feat.
