Abhishek Sharma registered the highest individual score by an Indian in Twenty-20 Internationals during India’s fifth T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
It was Shubman Gill who held the record previously with his unbeaten 126 off 63 balls against New Zealand scored on February 1, 2023.
Abhishek’s innings came to an end after he holed out to Jofra Archer over at deep extra cover off an Adil Rashid delivery. The southpaw scored a 54-ball 135.
Moreover, the 24-year-old broke the record for most sixes hit by a player in an innings of a T20I match after he sent the ball over the fence a total of 13 times.
Abhishek, earlier in the innings, also scored the second-fastest fifty by an Indian and second-fastest century in the format by a player.
